Cell Phone Usage

Cell phones should be placed in silent (vibrate) mode during classroom hours.

Cell phones must be placed in either a book bag or purse.  They are not to be used, or at any time become a distraction to the student or to the classroom.

Students should excuse themselves from lecture to place any emergency phone calls and/or text messages.

NOTE: Instructors reserve the right to exclude student from reentering the classroom if they feel that excessive liberties regarding cell phone usage have been taken.

Cell phones should never be used as calculators or any other form of application within the classroom; simple scientific calculators only are permitted.

Computers & Other Electronic Devices

Computers such as laptops/netbooks/tablet PCs have only a limited function within the classroom environment.  It is the individual instructors’ discretion whether to allow such devices in their classroom during their lecture time.

Audio record devices are allowed within the classroom during lectures only.

Exams, Quizzes and Labs

No make-up quizzes or labs will be offered at any time by any instructor.

Exams may be made up with instructor approval only, and by appointment only with Rebecca Boyd.

Students will be responsible prior to exams and quizzes to furnish all necessary test taking materials.  None will be provided at the time of exam.  The unpreparedness of a student will directly affect the points outcome of their exam.

Instructors will set aside allotted time to review exam questions after test. (Note: If there are some individual students who have not yet completed the exam, a review session may be delayed at the discretion of the instructor).

Absences

There are no excused absences without a doctor’s note or written notification.  Students must notify instructors and coordinator of all absences by email prior to absence.

Each individual student should have no more than three (3) absences [twelve (12) classroom hours] from classroom lectures at the times designated: 6pm to 10pm.

Absences totaling more than three (3) [twelve (12) classroom hours] may result in termination of enrollment to the course without refund to the student.

Students with more than twenty-four (24) classroom hours missed will be terminated from the Pharmacy Technology program at Training Institute, Fresno City College, without refund to the student, as they have not completed the minimum number of hours required for passing.

Professional Development & Conduct

Student should be ready to answer questions and participate in classroom activities.  Students should remain in class until dismissed by their instructor. 

There shall be no eating in the classroom or lab and drinking shall be limited to non-alcoholic beverages in closed/sealed containers.

The instructors have discretion to enforce the best learning environment for the student.  Assigned seating or rearrangement of student placement may be facilitated if a need arises (i.e. excessive talking).

Grades

Each student will be held accountable to maintain their own grades in the classroom.  Instructors will endeavor to have points standings on a regular basis.  The Program Coordinator will send grades to those students providing a valid email address.

Homework

Homework is due to the instructor prior to the day’s lecture.  No paperwork will be accepted after the start of lecture.

It is the student’s responsibility to complete their assigned homework in its entirety - partial credit is at the discretion of the instructor.

If a student is unable to turn in their assignment to the instructor, they may have a representative turn in the assignment for them prior to lecture.  They may also fax or drop off their assignments c/o Rebecca Boyd - Pharmacy Technology at the phone numbers/address listed above.

Plagiarism or copying is unacceptable - any suspected case will be handled by a faculty review of the Training Institute, Fresno City College.

Show all your work when at all possible…instructor gives zero (0) credit for just answers.

Tutoring and Instructor’s Time

Instructors will make a diligent effort to check emails and answer student’s emails.

We encourage student networking and student learning groups to go over classroom materials as a tutorial process
