CNN's David Mattingly talks to a jailed pharmacist who served a six-month sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
Emily's Law
"First, do no harm" (Goodman, 2007). Sounds like an easy principle for all health care employees to live by, but what happened in this story that caused such tragic outcomes? Becoming a pharmacy technician is an occupation that should not be taken lightly. In just a few short months, all of you will have the same opportunities to save lives as well as the same chances to cause so much anguish.
Explain in essay form of what went so wrong on this particular day. As a future pharmacy technician, what could you have done differently. Do you think the "punishment" fit the "crime", or do you think it was a little harsh. What became of the pharmacy technician in this story and what do you think her "punishment" should have been? What could be done today to make sure this kind of an accident never happens again and explain a vision of a better health care system tomorrow.
Assignment due by Monday, April 27 at 6pm PST
